Truly p2p

December 1, 2008

Having gone from 1 P to another P, I now understand that I was in the land of abundance, where laptops spring up like mineral water in Italy.

Shall I also compare thee, oh you the experience of change, to wearing heels? Another angle; a fresh perspective…and I didn’t know you were starting to bald.

Interesting. I think I may have a chance to understand you, in 3D, 360 degrees, x-ray-MRI-CT scan glory.

Fusionopolis!

September 29, 2008

Determined not to neglect my blog but don’t want to spend too much time on it too. So let’s start timing…10 min at most.

Now, Fusionopolis is a rather nice building. It’s a bit out of the way at the moment so we have to take a shuttle bus to and fro the building and there are less food choices within walking distance compared to the food paradise we were in. BUT the building’s neat. The office set up is very pleasant. Open concept’s nice as we can disturb another when we are bored and basically, it facilitates collaboration. The view is good, with the ample natural lighting, the whole place is simply more cheery. The facilities are good too…ahhh…singing praises of that place. Better still, we have a space for us to experiment with. Nice nice.

Ok, within 10 min. Target met. Time to sleep.

Cool. Cute. Wow. Wow wow.

September 8, 2008

The last week was rather intense. While sleep-deprived, it was not not fun. Our guests were quite hilarious and my partner was very cartoon. And Marina Mandarin’s a very mood hotel. The live band and the vast cavernous chamber, the warm lighting and how it bounces so softly off the upholstery. Just need some elves to appear to complete the magic.

Ambience aside, the outcome’s not bad. Had some productive meetings and completed a report in a day. Ahh…but that’s a preliminary report and there’s more. There is always a report waiting to be done at any one time, like Whac-A-Mole.

What I would treasure most though were the exceptional pple. Including a few of my colleagues. Grace and humour under pressure. Wow wow.

the email’s neck

August 23, 2008

The digital coup happened at the end of a persistently uneventful day. An email refused to be sent out. Renegade and intransigent, it sat affixed, immovable in the inbox. Last thing I needed at the end of another day burned for work. If the email had a neck, I would have strangled it.

Bonfire of the vanities

August 22, 2008

Cathartic…throwing away tonnes of stuff today. Knew that I was going to do some serious annihilation, so I wore my comfy Tweety Bird T-shirt, which received quite a bit of attention. Even had a little conversation in the lift about the gender of Tweety…male by the way. My colleague is asking me to go back now and that’s exactly what I plan to do. But before I go, let me remind myself that I should read this later — http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/08/17/10-futuristic-user-interfaces/

Look at prune can quench thirst

August 21, 2008

The agreement is finally concluded today. A bit like child birth: about 9 months, feel sick at points along the way and gotta give a hard final push to get it out. Now the feeding ($$$) and nurturing of this new creature.

Had several interesting encounters recently and some open doors. Still ??? but what is clear now is that I need a break soon after the hip-hop-happening upcoming 2 weeks. 望梅止渴!

Yesterday, I was reminded afresh that these are but light afflictions which are for the moment….and that we do not look at what is seen but what is unseen for what is seen is temporal but what is not is eternal. I’ve learned many lessons this year, and still learning; some are hard to grasp; some are darn painful; but through it all, God is good.

Change is in the air. The renovations at my place are almost done, my office is moving, just joining a new cell group, something is coming to an end, and we are counting down in the next 7 years to the Year of Jubilee.

QQ

August 20, 2008

I was writing about “ground zero” when there was another digital malfunction. I was marveling at the phrase as it could mean destruction, growth and development as well as fundamentals (source: answers.com). Quite something huh. How I see it is that bad things can actually be good and can bring you back to the basics. 阿Q!

Now, the topic on my mind after a day of firing off emails is I better clear my mailbox else kena fined for exceeding the memory space limit. Actually not, there are lots and lots of other things firing off my synapses. Can’t share can’t share…somethings can’t be shared. O Lord, help me to care and not to care…

Ok, gotta zip…

Museu do decisio

August 18, 2008

I wrote something yesterday but there was some digital malfunction. I was whining about my harassed weekend, thanks to a human being who neither sleeps nor slumbers. Can’t go into any more details as this blog is not exactly anonymous.

Some amount of scrambling now and some amount of trauma. And as with all things, there are always gems buried within. Like how I have come to appreciate the 3D art of the decision matrix. I think very intricate and fascinating sculptures can be created based on the decision matrix. If A, then do 2 but if A and C then 3 which could affect B, so then 5 and blah blah…. I think each type of thing (can’t think of a better word) will have its own unique signature sculpture. Maybe there’ll be some that look like one of those M C Escher’s  structures.

tic TECH toe

August 7, 2008

We saw some promising home-grown technology today and we were all excited. Being a platform product, it has great potential to make a global impact. The better ones do usually have their roots in the universities, and technical depth is necessary to keep that competitive edge and raise the barrier for copycats. Cool.
